MAINSTAGE Volunteers

The USITT Conference Mainstage Volunteer Program offers educational opportunities to learn from and work next to professionals representing disciplines from throughout the institute. Under the leadership of faculty and other industry professionals, volunteers will work to plan, produce, and create a home for several all-conference events and Sound Lab (2018), as well as Conference sessions and celebrations.

Opportunities for leadership and planning include production design, technical management, and vendor, presenter, and honoree coordination. Before and during the Conference, Mainstage Volunteers will set-up and strike the stage and equipment to transform a

ballroom into a performance venue. Throughout the Conference, events and sessions are staffed entirely by student volunteers and members of the Stage Management Mentor Project. This opportunity is a chance to learn hands-on what goes into planning, producing, and executing live events at a very large scale. Mentors and students gather from throughout the institute to create a team with diverse experiences and interests.

All volunteers need to be registered as Student or Early Career members and commit to working approximately 20 hours during the week of the Conference. Leadership and pre-production positions will require a much larger time commitment for preparation and meetings leading up to the Conference.
