The Use of Modern Sewing Technology in Period Costume Production

Join BERNINA educator Debbi Lashbrook for a class on mastering

lace-making, from designing within the software to the actual creation of time period lace for costumes. Participants will receive detailed instruction in the how to’s of creating free-floating lace appliqués with the use of Bernina Software. After digitizing with BERNINA software you will have the opportunity to sew out a lace sample of embroidery. A $10.00 class fee will offset the cost of class handouts and supplies.

Do you find yourself searching the marketplace for period-appropriate laces, trims, and embroideries without success? Learn how to use modern sewing technology to design and create your own laces, trims, and embroideries in your costume shop. In this hands-on workshop, learn how to design free-standing lace and trims in embroidery software and how to stitch-out the designs via an embroidery machine. See how these tools can expand your design options with ease. In class, participants will have the opportunity to create a lace sample employing these design techniques.

Participants will need to bring their laptops to download a 30-day trial version of embroidery design software.  The software runs on Microsoft 7, 8-10.  If you do not have a laptop that meets the software requirements, please contact us.
